Apartments
There are many apartments available near ELC, so students can walk or bicycle to school if they wish. A student can expect to pay $350 to $650 per month for an unfurnished one or two-bedroom apartment near the university. Most apartments require that residents sign a six-month or one-year lease as well as provide a deposit. Utilities such as electricity and cable television may cost extra. Many students share an apartment and the expenses with a friend. ELC will help you to find an apartment prior to your arrival if requested. However, ELC cannot make arrangements for apartment rental because students must sign the lease and pay the deposits in person. It is recommended that you arrive 5 days before the start of a school term to find an apartment and have utilities connected.


Homestays
One of the best ways for students to improve their language skills and learn about American culture is by taking part our homestay program. Through living with a homestay family, students have a unique opportunity to build relationships with family members and participate in American traditions and activities, such as weddings, sporting events and holiday celebrations.

A homestay includes a private or semi-private room, all utilities except for long distance phone calls, meals and transportation to and from school. ELC does not charge a housing fee for placement in homestays. For a private room, the monthly fee is $600.
