Homestays

ELC does not charge a housing fee for placement in homestays with American families. A homestay includes a private or semi-private room, meals and all utilities for except long distance phone calls. Transportation to and from school is also included. Homestay arrangements need to be made about one month in advance.

Apartments

There are many apartments available near ELC, so students can walk or bicycle to school if they wish. One person can expect to pay $350 to $650 per month for a one or two bedroom apartment near the university. Most apartments require that residents sign a six-month or one-year lease as well as a deposit. Utilities such as electricity and cable television may cost extra. Many students share an apartment and the expenses with a friend. ELC will help you to find an apartment prior to your arrival if requested. However, ELC cannot make arrangements for apartment rental because students must sign the lease and pay the deposits. It is recommended that you arrive 5 days early to find an apartment and have utilities connected.
